For Colorado residents, a variety of Arapahoe Library District library cards are available, including:
- Permanent Full Service Library Card: For all Colorado residents, except for patrons who live in Aurora and do not pay taxes to Arapahoe Library District.
- Temporary Library Card: For patrons who live in Colorado temporarily due to business or visiting relatives and have a permanent address elsewhere.
- Aurora Limited Library Card: For patrons who live in Aurora, and do not pay taxes to Arapahoe Library District.
- Aurora Full Service Library Card: This card is available for purchase and is for Aurora patrons who do not pay taxes to Arapahoe Library District but want full checkout privileges and do not want to be held to any checkout limits.. Read more information about the limits.

With your Permanent Full Service Library card you can:
- Checkout books, DVDs, music and more from any of our convenient locations.
- View your library account: Place or cancel holds and renew library items online from your home, school, or office computer, or from any of our library branch computers.
- Access a variety of specialized research databases through the library website, accessible through your home or office.
- Reserve a public computer.
- Place holds and download audiobook and eBook titles.
- Request items from Prospector and Inter-Library Loans.
With your Temporary Library Card you can:
- Access a variety of specialized research databases through the library website, accessible through your home or office.
- Place up to 2 holds on library materials.
- You will be unable to place holds or download audiobook and eBook titles with your temporary library card.
- Your temporary card will only be active for 90 days before you will need to convert it to a permanent library card.
With your Aurora Limited Library Card you can:
- Checkout 3 items per card
- Place 2 holds per card
You cannot:
- Renew items
- Use Inter-Library Loan or Prospector
This card is available for no additional cost and is for Aurora patrons who do not pay taxes to Arapahoe Library District. For Aurora patrons who want to enjoy full checkout privileges at Arapahoe Library District, an Aurora Full Service Library Card is available for purchase. More Important Details about the Aurora Full Service ALD Library Card:
- This card is effective January 3, 2011.
- It is available for purchase beginning December 3, 2010.
- The cost for the card is $100 per year, per household.
- The cost for a partial year card will be prorated ($8.50 per month).
- Full payment must be made during the time of purchase (no payment plans/billing services available).
- No refunds once card is purchased.
- Volunteers and seniors are exempt from checkout limits and do not need to purchase a card.
- To purchase a card, please visit an Arapahoe Library District branch; cards cannot be purchased on-line or over the phone.
- Cash, check, Visa, or MasterCard are all acceptable forms of payment.
To get any library card you must:
- Be a Colorado Resident and show photo identification and proof of address.
- Have parental approval if under 18. (Parents or guardians are responsible for library materials and any fines or charges incurred by minor children under the age of 18.)
You can apply for a library card online, or by going to any of our convenient locations. Fill out the online application form to get a temporary library card number that you can use to access online services and place a limited number of holds on items in our online catalog. You will need to visit one of our libraries with photo I.D. and proof of your current address to fully activate your account.
